A lot of local and state elections have resulted in officials winning by one vote! A couple of votes are crucial in determining the outcome of an election!

An increase in voter turnout can dictate the result of a close election, as seen in the 2000 election (Al Gore v. George Bush). Bush won Florida by 0.009% of the votes, which equates to 537 votes. Had about 600 more people turned out to vote, the election could have went a lot different.

If you feel that the policy initiatives on ballots do not reflect the you needs and wants, you create a petition and ather signatures to propose to your local congressman or women. The congressman or women will pprocede to write up a bill reflecting your demands.
